Globalization:
What is Globalization?
"Globalization is the process of international integration arising from the interchange of world views, products, ideas, and other aspects of culture. Put in simple terms, globalization refers to processes that promote world-wide exchanges of national and cultural resources. Advances in transportation and telecommunications infrastructure, including the rise of the Internet, are major factors in globalization, generating further interdependence of economic, and cultural activities." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Globalization
There are three different ranks of Globalization: 1.0 where the government pushes the country to globalize, 2.0 where companies going global cause the country to globalize, and 3.0 where globalization is spearheaded by individuals. So which rank of Globalization does Honduras currently follow and why?

Honduras' Rank in Globalization is 2.0 because...
- Honduras is Latin America's second-most globalized country. (Panama is first)
- Globalization in Honduras during the past 20 years has been dominated by the rise of foreign investment into the maquila sector in which they import parts for assembly and re-export.
- Dependent on trade: mainly exports agricultural goods and food products and imports fuels, machinery, and equipment.
- Major Global Companies like Dole and Chiquita are responsible for Banana export. Honduras is considered a Banana Republic which means a majority of its economy is dominated by the growth and export of bananas.
- Honduras is the third largest exporter of clothes and textiles to the US market, employing approximately 110,000 workers, 53% of whom are young women from deprived backgrounds with little education.
- Economy has began to switch from agricultural based to industry based.
- Despite the increase in globalization, Honduras is still one the the poorest Latin America countries.
